Established in 2014, the Taskar Center for Accessible Technology (TCAT) strives to promote independence, quality of life and inclusion for people with physical and speech impairments. We aim to enhance access to everyday technologies through the development of user-focused novel interfaces, the addition of sensors and input devices to existing technologies, and the promotion of accessible design practices in engineering processes.
Being part of the University of Washington Department of Computer Science and Engineering, we connect the University research community with end users from very early design stages, holding regular prototype troubleshooting sessions and interactive design labs promoting equitable design practices.
